Another week another CU email, here’s what is coming up.

Thursday, we are going to be starting the Art of Connecting series with Canon Andy William visiting to talk to us. See you at 7:30pm in Seminar room 0.46 in Student Central.

This Saturday we are having a Fire Up Day to get ready for the Mission Week, we will be starting at 1:30pm (Please have lunch before hand) and having talks about bow to relate to Muslims and other valuable stuff. Bring along some snacks and drinks will be provided. We will be finishing about 5, we are currently trying to sort a bigger room for this but I will let you by tomorrow so keep your eyes peeled.

Well after all that time for some words of wisdom, and a reminder of the cost of Salvation.

“When they hurled insults at him (Jesus), he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly” 1 Peter 2: 23

Hope you have recovered from all the exams and assessments, but we’re still being busy. Here’s what is coming up:

This Thursday our very own Andy Beattie will by talking about ‘Who are we in Christ?’ the last part of our Identity theme. We will be back in the seminar room 0.46, where we were last term, at 7:30pm. Thank you all for the donations made last week for Mission Week, keep on praying for for it.

Corinne has sent me an e-mail with opportunities at CAP; I will send the letter soon as it a bit too much for the CU e-mail.

To finish off here is something to remember:

Hope you are all doing fine and dandy; this is what is coming up this week.

This Thursday Lensa will be speaking to us on “Who are we in the world?”, our next bit on the ‘Identity’ theme. Also, as Simon said last week, we will be having a collection for Events Week in the meeting. This is not compulsory, but if you feel you can give then that would be great. See you at 7:30pm at the Discovery Centre.

This Friday the CU are down to do water bottles at FND. Meeting at Simon’s house (Opposite the Discovery Centre) at 5pm to label the bottles and meet again at 10:30pm at his house for the event, more info will follow.

I will finish with a nice passage that I found just before one of my exams:

“I have great confidence in you; I take great pride in you. I am greatly encouraged; in all our troubles my joy knows no bounds.” 2 Corinthians 7: 4

Hope you all had a smashing Christmas and New Year, but we’re back and so are the exams.

There will be a meeting this Thursday at 7:30pm in the Discovery Centre with Adrian Watts bringing the first talk on the ‘Identity’ theme starting with ‘Who are we at the Cross’?

I will be praying for you at this time and I will finish with a good verse for this time of work and revision.

“I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength” Philippians 4:23

Hope all is well and that you are getting very excited about Christmas! However, before all that fun there are some things that we need your help with.

This Thursday is a busy day! In Student Central will be the Christmas Fair and the CU has a stall. It would be really great if you could come and help out by handing out questionnaires and have a chat with people from 11am to 4pm. After this the Christian Union will be singing carols in Student Central at 6pm on the middle floor and again roughly at 6:30pm on the bottom floor, so please come and support us.

At 7:30pm we will be ice skating so meet by Sainsbury’s at 7:15 and bring your student card and some coins.

Also the CU is helping out at FND, at 5pm on Friday meet at 12 Sherbourne Road to stick labels and later again at 10:15pm by the Discovery Centre for shifting all the water to student central.

Well that a lot but just some more things that you might enjoy.

“It was fitting then that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering” Hebrews 2: 10, 11

So the Carol Service is this Thursday at 7:30pm in the Small Hall in the Richmond Building, it will be great to bring you friends too so please do invite as many as you can. The service is due to start at 7:30pm but it would be really helpful if you could be there at 6pm in order to arrange furniture, etc.

Also, Thursday the 16th is the Christmas Market and the CU will have a stand from 12 – 4pm and after at 6pm on that day there will be another chance to sing carols at the market, so if you feel like helping out please to speak to me after the service.

So to finish off just some encouragements to keep you going:

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” Romans 15: 5, 6

Hope you are all having a wonderful time in the snow, if its possible to do so. Some things that you might like to know.

A big hand to all those who braved the snow to help out at FND, we really made an impact and will hopefully be doing it again soon.

This Thursday is the last in our series on 2 Timothy with Stewart Morris visiting us for the second time, so see you all at 7:30pm in the usual seminar room in Student Central.

Another reminder that on the 9th is the CU Carol service in the Small Hall in Richmond 7:30pm, this Thursday we should have all the flyers so you can invite your friends.

To finish off is a verse that I hope will encourage you as it does me, especially at this time

“Finally, be strong in the LORD and in his mighty power. Put on the full amour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes” Ephesians 6: 10, 11

This Thursday Alex Radice will be bringing us the next part of the series 2 Timothy, so see you in the usual time and place.

This Friday the CU will be having a stand of water bottles at FND and we will be there to give a helping hand to Student’s Union, so if you want to help out there will be more info on Thursday or turn up at the Discovery Centre at midnight.

Remember prayer meetings at 9pm on Mondays at the Discovery Centre.

This week Tony Brown will be speaking to us on the next part of the section of Timothy, chapter 2, in the usual time and place.

Also, prayer meetings will continue on Mondays at 9pm at the Discovery Centre, it would be really great to see as many of you there as possible.

Well what a super Houseparty! The pictures I will try to put on facebook maybe in different folder due to the size and amount of them.

Anyway, this Thursday Chris Howson will be visiting to talk about the Street Angels and also Bruce Gulland will be chatting about Amplified the Christian radio. So do come along to find out more in the usual room and time.

Monday 15th November is ‘World Mission’ day and at Leeds, a gathering of CUs around Yorkshire to find out more about going on mission to the world. The event starts at Leeds at 7:30pm and we will be catching the 6:34pm train there but more info soon.

On Sunday Rachel will be taking people down to the Salvation Army for a church visit, more details on Thursday.
