What is CU?The Christian Union is affiliated to UCCF (University and Colleges Christian Fellowship), a national organisation who support CUs around the country. They are entirely self-funded and independent from any denomination. To ensure that everyone involved in running things at the CU is doing things Biblically, we adhere to the UCCF statement of beliefs The CommitteeThe CU has a Committee made up of members from the CU. Their role is to plan and organise all that goes on in the CU and seek God’s will and His guidance. They meet once a week to discuss and plan the coming weeks’ events. However, we welcome the members’ input so please let them know at any point if you have any ideas or something on your heart. Every term there is also at least one open committee meeting where anyone can come along and put their views and ideas across. In February each year a new Committee is chosen by the old Exec and is voted in by the CU members (in accordance with the Students’ Union guidelines). They then attend New Leaders Training – a regional conference put on by UCCF – to learn more about their individual roles, how to lead a CU and also receive some valuable Bible teaching. It can also be a great opportunity to meet new leaders from other CUs. This year’s Executive committee are:
The CU is supported by Lensa Woodcock, our UCCF Staffworker, and Shell Mason, Associate Staffworker. How to get involvedThe Committee can’t run the CU on their own. If you would like to help in any of the areas, or if you want to find out about any other ways to get involved, please email Peter at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. This is £2 for those who are already a member of another society (this goes towards the running costs of the CU) or £3 for those who aren’t (the extra £1 goes to the SU).
